So about forever ago (August I think...) Mike dragged me to San Diego.

Normally he wouldn't have to drag me but we had just

gotten pregnant like eight weeks before and I hadn't been sicker.

Needless to say I am glad we went because just going to the

beach and seeing the girls have the time of their

lives with their cousins made it all worth it.

We went to the temple recently and it was so nice to

just go up for no reason at all except to admire it and

everything around it. We had so much fun admiring the

flowers and the fountains and the temple itself.

We are so blessed to live so close.

I had extra fabric from my shirt dress I recently made

so I made a couple skirts for the girls. I wanted them to

match but not be the exact same, so this is what I came up

with. Jaden's has the faux placket that looks more similar to my

dress and I've always wanted to try pintucks so that's what I

did with Avery's. Now my mom says we all need to wear

our dresses at the same time but I think that might

be going too far. We'll see. I know Jaden would dig it!

One morning Jaden requested one of my Pilates

videos. She finished the whole thing without any

persuasion from me.

So she found this in her Easter basket. She does it all the time.

I am finally going to venture out and sew myself something.

I was checking out some favorite sewing sites and came across this pattern.

They just came out and they are made by the same person who makes the

Oliver and S patterns that I LOVE! So I waited until Joann's put their

simplicity patterns on sale and bought all of them. Bonus: I went the first

thing the first morning they went on sale and got the last ones of each pattern.

Made my day! I liked the dress on the sample so much I bought

the same Chambray fabric in the Grey. I'm a little nervous so wish me luck!

We had the best trip ever last month. And

though it wasn't planned we got to see all of our

family that lives in California. My sister's family

and my mom came with us to Disneyland and

we got to see Mike's brother's family that lives near

San Diego who just happened to be in Anaheim

on Sunday. We stopped in St George Friday night

and arrived in Anaheim on Sat in near 80 degree weather.

What a dream! The girls even swam with their

cousins when we arrived. On Saturday

we found Mike's brother and joined them at a

cool pirate park (wish I had more pics of it).

Here's the one pic I got of Jaden with her

cousin Olivia who she adores and thinks is so beautiful!

After the park we went to the beach and

though it was cold the girls had a blast running around

in the sand and chasing the seagulls. Once again, no pics.

On Monday and Tuesday we hit up Disneyland.

Anyone that knows me knows I LOVE IT!

I just love seeing the excitement in my girls eyes

and remembering how much fun I had growing up

going. My sister got us a sweet deal since she

is from southern California. Thanks Candice!

And it was so nice having my mom and sister's family

there to help and to be with. Jaden adores Kaylee

and so it was nice to have so many extra willing

people to help.

I read online that you have to try the

hand dipped corndogs. They did not disappoint!

Even though it was way passed bed time

Avery was in the silliest best mood.

Meeting the princesses was obviously a highlight.

Avery was just in awe. She didn't smile or anything..just stared.

In shock I guess. Jaden and Belle trying to get

Avery to loosen up.

I love pinnochio so I was happy to see this guy.

Meeting Mickey was Avery's favorite part.

She was not shy this time. She walked straight up to him

and gave him a fat kiss. Bonus: No wait!

Enjoying Toon Town and virtually had the place to

ourselves at the end of the night.

Avery and I rode the teacups one last time

while Mike took Jaden on the Matterhorn for her

third time! Avery loved her princess Minnie Mouse.

A combination of her favorite things!

More interesting tidbits:

Neither of my girls were scared of any of the rides.
Including the Matterhorn, Snow Whites Scary Adventure and Haunted Mansion.
We rode EVERYTHING we wanted except Nemo. Jaden didn't want to ride it. weird.
Jaden was so bummed she wasn't half an inch taller so she could ride Tower of Terror.
Loved A Bug's Life 3D movie, Jaden was hilarious. She kept reaching out to touch everything and kept taking off her glasses to see why she couldn't. Confusing.
Did you know you can walk through the Castle? I didn't. But there's a tiny little entrance on the Fantasyland side and inside are images from Sleeping Beauty. It's pretty cool.
On our way back my mom drove with me (Mike had to fly back for school) and we stopped in Palm Springs and stayed in a sweet hotel and swam in 80 degree weather again. It was a great way to end the trip!
Always use priceline for hotels! We never payed over 55 bucks for nice hotels the whole trip. Including the Marriott and Hyatt Suites in Palm Springs!!!

Thanks again to the Edgars for making our trip

extra special and a little easier. Can't wait to go again!!!!

I Love Disneyland!

Birthday Girl!

My eldest turned four a couple weeks ago!

She is such a doll. The top picture is of her waiting for

her party to start and she was so excited! It

was her first friend party and she kept looking out

the window and waiting for friends and each time

she saw one she freaked out and ran to greet them

at the door. I love her enthusiasm for life!

Anyhow the party was great and she got totally

spoiled from everyone (thanks guys!) and

best of all she had a great day which included going

to see Tangled later. I wish I had more

pictures to post but we did a lot of videotaping

instead which sadly got recorded over while

we were at Disneyland the next week :(

I am trying to make spring come early by

making new spring dresses for the girls. It's not working so far. But I'm eagerly waiting for the day when they can wear them.

I got this fabric plus lots more at 40% off

at Pine Needles up at Gardner Village during

a family and friends day. This is unheard of so

I jumped at the chance and practically

drove through a snow storm to get there.

I can't wait to make more with the other material I

bought. I also made the "matching dresses" with

a pattern I picked up at Joann's for $1.00! Sweet!

I just fixed it today but still can't get the motivation.

Halloween Week!

After finishing Jaden's costume this year, I was so

excited that she got to wear it so many times.

It seemed like Halloween was all week long.

We did the class party, Mike's work party,

the PG PumpkinFest, visiting family,

and Trick or Treating at Steve and Heather's place.

It was a blast and Jaden loved being Dorothy

all week long!

San Diego

So we went to San Diego a few weeks ago
and thought I'd share some pics.
Mike's brother and his family was
nice enough to share their home with us
so we decided to take advantage
of their prime location.
It was so nice to get away from it all
and have Mike to ourselves for a whole week.

We toured some subs and ships at the Maritime Museum
in the harbor in downtown San Diego.

This sub is definitely not recommended for
claustorphobic (not quite sure how to spell that).

Binding Service

New Binding Service

I'm starting a binding service.

I thought it would be a good way to fund

my sewing addiction and to maybe help

a little with the family income.

I've had my quilts "quilted" before

but had never heard of anyone offering

to bind them. So if you are new to

quilting/binding or just don't have the

time, please send me an email.

Here's how it will work.

I plan on doing one quilt a week.

It will be on a first come-first serve basis.

Once I get an email notification I will

put your quilt on the list and let you know

a time frame. Please have all the edges

trimmed up and I will let you know

how much yardage you will need for the

binding if you don't already have it.

Prices:

Machine attached and hand sewn

on opposite side: .20 cents per inch.

Machine sewn on both sides: .13 cents per inch.

If you would like your fabric cut on the bias

it will be an extra 3.00-7.00 depending

on the size.

I've researched the prices on the internet

(since I couldn't find anyone local who offered it)

and saw that .20 cents was the cheapest price

I could find. Most hand sewn services were closer

to .30 cents per inch. The pictures shown

above were two twin size quilts I did

recently and they are both hand sewn

on the reverse side.

So Please spread the word, especially

to any of your sewing friends.

it seems like forever ago that we went on our first (entire) family trip.

we went to yellowstone and stayed in island park.

and even though mike forgot to pack the stroller and

ended up not really seeing anything in yellowstone (mike that is, he just

walked around with avery. she refused to let us direct her anywhere) we had

a lot of fun. we saw mesa falls too. it was gorgeous. it was the only thing

i really got pictures of. oh well. my whole

family went and stayed in a cabin all together. can't wait to do

it again. i'm just sad i didn't get pics of everybody.

I made this one for a good friend who is decorating her baby's

Well we survived Disneyland.

We missed Daddy but had lots of fun.

Candice got us in with two-fer tickets so

we spent the first day at California Adventure

then the next at Disneyland.

It was awesome.

My favorite part (and Jaden's) was

when just her and I got to go back

in the evening (while Grandma

stayed back with Avery) with Candice's fam and

watch the fireworks and ride a few rides.

The Haunted Mansion was her

favorite ride. She calls it the

Halloween ride and says "it was scary but

I was brave!" I don't really think it scared her

one bit. She just looked facsinated the whole

time (hence the pic below).

Thanks Candice and Josh fam for

meeting us and for all the help! We had tons of fun there

and up at the house! And a special

I've been on a clothing making high. Since I made the Christmas dresses for the girls I've realized how much faster and more fun it is to sew clothes instead of quilts. I'm not going to stop quilting but I needed a break. A long one. But I've got two quilts to make so I'll have to face them one day. Anyhow I made both the girls little peasant shirts from altering the pattern I have for the Christmas dresses (which I got from my sister's shop). I also made another shirt for Jaden which I'm not a giant fan of but it's still cute and kind of funny on. I think it's the fabric I used. It's way too mature. I just used stuff I had on hand and have a ton of so next time I make it I'll buy something cute and less busy. I'm also wearing headbands a little too much now so I made a bunch for Jaden and I. They're just so easy and I'm just so lazy when it comes to hair. I got the tutorial here. I also just finished the girls some "springy" skirts out of a pattern I've had and love and I'll post those soon. So anyone want to join me in my high? I'm always looking for sewing buddies!

Avery Jane is Nine Months!

I can't believe it. Soon she'll be one

and I won't have a little baby anymore. sad.
She’s a little munchkin just like Jaden was and
I love that too. It makes her easy to tote around (
Which she requires a lot of). She’s also a go-getter.
Hopefully she’ll be walker sooner than 15 months like
Jaden so I’m excited! Here’s her stats.

Jaden has her very own prince and it happens to be daddy.

This day she came running downstairs to show daddy

how pretty she was and she said "Daddy, you a prince! Dance with me"

Lights and Reindeer

During Jaden's short life we've made it a tradition to do the drive-thru lights at Thanksgiving Point. Jaden Loves It! Even when she was only 10 months old she loved it. It was lots of fun (and warm in our heated car). And this year they had reindeer. Bonus. We got out a took a look. It was a fun night.

I slack each year during the holidays when it comes to blogging. So this week I will work on catch up. Here's just a cute pic of the girls' first bath together. Avery doesn't usually like the bath so I figured she sits up well enough to let her take one with Jaden. That did the trick. They both loved it!

Ok I guess I've been meaning to do this post for a month. What a neglectful mommy I am. I took this pic on her six month birthday. Isn't she a cutie? This one's a mover. She's been army crawling since she was five months. She gets faster and faster and now I actually have to keep my eye on her. Her stats are almost identical to Jaden's which is actually reassuring to me that her small size is hereditary and not me under feeding them. We love our little Avery and are happy to have her as an addition to our crazy little family.

We had a great Halloween. I'm glad it's done because it

took a few hunting trips to put Jaden's Jessie costume together.

I finally found the cow material for the chaps after

waiting in line at Joanne's for an hour. I found the

shirt at the mall after about an hour there.

The belt at DI, then the search for the embellishments

on the shirt began. I didn't even finish it until

Friday night. Needless to say it took a hefty

amount of time but I loved the results. And so did

Jaden. She kept saying "yee haw" and yodeling, so cute!

We went to Mike's work on friday night

for some "office hop" trick or treating and then

Saturday we visited Grandparents and went to my

brother's for an awesome dinner and more

trick or treating. Avery was quite tired both nights but

Jaden soaked it all up!

A few weeks back we went up to

Park City with some friends.

Being the kind people they are,

they watched Avery for us while we

took Jaden down the Alpine Slide.

She loved it! I kept thinking she might get

a little nervous but I was going pretty

fast and she just kept yelling "whahoo"

even on those dips. She's usually a cautious

one but she's got an adventurous side to

her too. We love her!

This is the first quilt I quilted myself

with my new walking foot. I just did diagonal

lines and I really like the simplicity and

texture of it.

So these are the projects I've been working on.

This one is a mini quilt that I did the "quilting" on

for the first time. It's about 36" by 36"

It's small because it was a "screw up quilt". My sister

and I started working on a throw quilt and

I sewed all of my squares a tiny bit smaller

than hers. So I just decided to remake my

squares and use the small ones

for a mini quilt for Avery. It's perfect for the

stroller or her carseat so it I guess it works.

This is a coin quilt top I made with the scraps from

Jaden's and Avery's quilts. I love it.

I'm giving it as a gift to. . . someone,

so I hope they like it.
It's a baby size.

And this is Jaden's quilt top to match Avery's. I hope they look good
together because hopefully sooner rather than later they will be
sharing a room. I really need my room back.
This one should fit a toddler bed.

I'm so glad I've finally been able to start sewing

again. I've missed it. I hope

to buy a walking foot soon so I can

quilt these two tops myself.

Hopefully I don't ruin them.

Mike and I dropped off Avery at Grandma's house for some much needed alone time with Jaden. So we took her to see Up. She loved it. Sat through the entire thing. We went about a month ago and she still talks about the movie and the popcorn and how it was just "us" to this day!

After being pregnant for what seemed like a few years our little girl is finally here.

I was scheduled for an induction on my due date but we arrived 2 hours before the scheduled time and I went on my own. It was relatively routine and we are grateful for an awesome midwife and a smooth delivery.

I can't believe my little girl is two. I used to get really sad at the thought of her getting older but now that our new little one is so close to coming I don't get as upset. We had a fun little birthday party with the family and she loved her gifts (especially opening all of them). Brooke got her some princess things and she is now hooked. My mom got her a doll and Candice made her a cute little doll quilt and we got her a stroller to go with it all. She's a good little mommy to "baby Ally". Hopefully she is as good to her little sister.

So I love to sew now. Ever since I had Jaden I've mostly been making baby items and bags. Most of all I love to give them as gifts and the make cute little things for Jaden. I'm excited for another little girl so I can make them cute little matching items. I had been using my mom's (cheap) old machine and have always wished for a newer one. I was going to buy a new Brother machine from Costco for Christmas but decided to splurge a get a new Bernina with my mom. My mom doesn't sew much so she hasn't even used it yet but I LOVE IT. A while back I also bought a surger to make my things more "finished" and I figured I needed one if I ever decided to sell any of my creations. Here are some pics of my more recent projects.

Clean Up Clean Up!

I know all little kids like to imitate their moms and help clean up but I'm hoping Jaden might have a little OCD in her when it comes to cleanliness. She remembers where things go like no other and sometimes she won't move on to something else or go somewhere unless she cleans up first. I'm pretty lucky. Hopefully she keeps it up.

Jaden got her first "real" haircut in November and I know it was a while ago but I needed to post the cute pics. I just took her somewhere cheap cause we were just giving her a trim since Mike won't let me cut her hair. He wasn't even happy about the trim. She was so cute in her little booster seat sitting so good and "reading" her books.

We are so excited to announce that Jaden will be having a little sister! I am so excited she gets to have one so close in age to her. We just went to the ultrasound and everything looks perfect so we feel very blessed to have this new addition! Thanks for all your love and support! And here is a picture of our 3-D little girl alien. I know it's not that great but I though I'd throw it on anyway.

So we weren't able to go anywhere for vacation this year because we couldn't afford to even drive anywhere! I was bummed but we found some fun things to do around here and we had a lot of fun. I'll spare you the details but here are some cute pics.

Wiped out! She took a record 3 hour nap when we got home.

So during Pioneer day Brooke and I finally decided to try a day of camping. I said let's do it but deep down I kind of hoped she wouldn't find a camp site. Well she obviously found a camp site (in bear country no less) and even though I didn't sleep a wink the entire night and our air mattress went flat (twice!) it was pretty fun. Especially to watch Jaden and Val Dean have so much fun getting so dirty!

Independence Day Weekend!

Happy 4th!

For the 4th we chilled at Grandma's house during the day

and we stopped by the cemetary to visit Grandpa.

It was really beautiful up on the hill and they

had added a flag to all the veterans graves

(therefore Grandpa got one too).

The 4th is one of my favorite holidays because

we always get to spend it with family and celebrate

one of our biggest blessings.

Later that night Mike, Jaden and I went down to Provo to

watch the Stadium of Fire fireworks

and set off a few off our own in a

parking lot nearby. Jaden loved the fireworks

and we all had a blast.

and it was a lot of fun but I

We took Jaden to the carnival and we were a little nervous to put her on the rides by herself. We should have known she would love it because she is so independent! We had a blast just watching her take in all the new sights and even taking turns on the slides ourselves.

So Jaden is now a "Big Girl", or so she thinks. It's so much fun to watch her progression but it makes me kind of sad that my baby girl is growing up. She has been walking now for about 3 weeks and is still a bit wobbly but she is all over the place. We're so proud!

Grandma, Jaden, and I went to visit my sister Candice's family in March. We stayed for two nights at her new house (it's really cute) and two nights in Anaheim. We had gone to Disneyland not very long ago so we decided to venture out to Knotts Berry Farm. It was fun but its far from the Happiest Place on Earth. Jaden had a lot of fun with her cousins and they entertained her nonstop. We were sad to say goodbye but they are coming to Utah in June so were excited to see them again.

I figured Jaden's 1st Birthday was a great place to start our new blog. Her birthday was on the 27th of February but we celebrated it on March 1st. We had some family and a few of Jaden's friends (all of which are boys. . . poor girl) for pizza and cake and ice cream. Yum Yum. She got lots of presents too! Thanks everyone! We are so blessed to have such great family and friends!
